JPEG Image basics

JPEG stands for Joint Photographic Experts Group.  This is also commonly refered to as a JPG image.

JPEG images are a compressed image format, where the degree of compression is adjustable, however this is at the expense of image quality.  The higher the compression the the lower the the image quality and vice versa.

JPEG images are most commonly used in digital and phone cameras.

As you may notice, 1M Signs offers its designs in 4 formats:

  3. JPG or JPEG Image; and

    There is a generous number of programs and software available to everyday users of PNG Images, here are some of the programs (some of which I utilise regularly) used in association with PNG images:

    1. Adobe Photoshop;
    2. Inskcape (free at the time of this blog publish date);
    3. Windows Photo;
    4. Many mobile apps;
